- South Orange Resources - University LibrariesThe home of Seton Hall University is South Orange, New Jersey which has its own storied history and has retained close ties to the school from the mid-nineteenth century (Seton Hall was located in Madison, New Jersey from 1856-1860) to the present day. Part of this collection includes select materials related to the Village and its development in line with that of the University at-large. An introductory bibliography to South Orange (NJ) and resources found in and via the Seton Hall University Libraries.

The postcards include images of buildings, streets, and locations throughout South Orange, NJ from the 1890s through the 1950s. Included are images of Seton Hall University. The contents of this digital collection come from both the Seton Hall Archives and the George Velotto collection of Historic South Orange postcards. - South Orange - A Brief History of the VillageA general overview of the evolution of South Orange produced through Village Hall.
- South Orange Local History Wiki (SOPL)This is a collaborative local history website that helps the user learn about the history of South Orange. Contributions include stories, photos or any other South Orange information of potential interest to this community.
- South Orange Historical & Preservation Society (SOPHS)The South Orange Historical and Preservation Society (SOHPS) was formed in 1986. The goal of the organization is to further the study of the history and architecture of the Village of South Orange, New Jersey.
- South Orange Public LibraryThe mission of the library is to meet educational, informational, and cultural needs of the South Orange community. The Library is committed to providing: free and open access to a broad collection of materials in varied formats with media professional assistance in locating, using, and evaluating resources and programs for all ages that encourage reading, and provide intellectual stimulation and cultural enrichment a distinct collection of materials unique to the Township of South Orange Village and of special interest to community members and community organizations.
- Sanborn Maps of New Jersey - South OrangeThe Sanborn Map Company is the oldest mapping company in the United States. Founded in 1866, the company created detailed building maps of cities and towns all across the country, primarily for use by insurance companies. These maps also have been used extensively by local government agencies for over a century in conducting their daily operations efficiently. Approximately 12,000 American cities and towns are chronicled in the company's collection of over one million maps. As a result of its history, the name "Sanborn" has become synonymous with this kind of map. Genealogists, local history buffs, city planners, architects, and countless others have been drawn to the quality of detail found in them.
- Blue Book of South Orange (South Orange Patch Article)Published in 1908, the book contains a century-old social history of South Orange and surrounding towns.
- South Orange - Hathi TrustFounded in 2008, HathiTrust is a not-for-profit collaborative of academic and research libraries preserving 17+ million digitized items. HathiTrust offers reading access to the fullest extent allowable by U.S. copyright law, computational access to the entire corpus for scholarly research, and other emerging services based on the combined collection. HathiTrust members steward the collection — the largest set of digitized books managed by academic and research libraries — under the aims of scholarly, not corporate, interests.
