| How are the books
organized?
For most of its books, Walsh Library follows the
Library of Congress Classification system, which is used by the Library
of
Congress
and most academic universities throughout the country. A description of
call number ranges by discipline can
be
found at http://library.shu.edu/lcsystem.htm,
In addition, the SHU library contains Federal and NJ State government
documents.
Federal documents are organized using a special SuDoc (Superintendent of
Documents) lettering and numbering system.
NJ State documents are organized using the Dewey Decimal system.
Call numbers are library
addresses-they tell where to find your material in the Library.
Quiz yourself! You look up a
book in the catalog, and find the following information. What is it
telling you?
