Overview
The University Libraries are intended primarily for the use of currently enrolled Seton Hall University students and currently employed faculty, administrators and staff. Others, such as Seton Hall University alumni, visiting scholars who are currently sponsored by an academic or administrative division, and public visitors, may also have access to the collections.
Presentation of Valid ID Card or Visitor Pass
Persons wishing access to University Library collections, or to borrow resources, must carry Seton Hall University Identification (ID) Cards to be presented upon request to University Public Safety personnel and/or to University Libraries personnel:

Seton Hall students, faculty, administration and staff must present a valid Seton Hall University ID card.

Seton Hall alumni must present a valid Seton Hall Alumni card.

Visiting Scholars must present a valid Seton Hall University ID card or letter from the Seton Hall University division's dean or administrator sponsoring their University visit.

Visitors from the community must register at the Circulation Desk, showing such identification as a valid driver's license, or other acceptable form of identification. In addition, visitors must obtain a pass and wear it visibly during the time they are in the University Library.
General Conditions for Access

A valid ID card, as specified above, or a visitor's pass, to be worn after guests sign the University Library Visitor's Book, must be available and/or visible for presentation to a member of the University Public Safety and/or to University Libraries personnel.

Persons using the University Libraries may be under video surveillance.

Persons using the University Libraries must not create a disturbance or exhibit behavior in any manner that interferes with the normal use or other person's use of the University Libraries.

Persons who bring minor children with them into the University Libraries must closely supervise them and remain with them at all times.
Compliance

Seton Hall University students who do not comply with the policies outlined above may be asked to leave the University Libraries and an incident report will be filed with the Dean for Community Development; in addition, the student may be reported to appropriate law enforcement authorities.

Persons other than current students whose behavior is not consistent with the policy outlined above may be asked to leave the University Libraries, may be reported to appropriate law enforcement authorities and subject to arrest, and may be barred from using the University Libraries for a given period.
Appeal
A person who is barred from using the University Libraries for any reason may appeal for the reinstatement of privileges to the Dean of University Libraries.
