Program in Graduate Medical Education

Seton Hall University, founded in 1856, was actively interested in medical educational for many years.  In 1946 Seton Hall began a graduate medical education program sponsored by the Essex County Medical Society  which was later integrated into the Seton Hall College of Medicine and Dentistry.

The Post-Graduate Department was developed after the College of Medicine and Dentistry was founded to coordinate a comprehensive program of short term post-graduate coursed and full-time graduate credit course.  The purpose of the program was to:

1)   to keep abreast of current advances in the field of general medicine
2)   to pursue training in the various specialty fields
3)   to correlate new basic science aspects with clinical findings
4)   to obtain full time basic science credit in surgery and medicine
5)   to present centrally located courses for interns and residents in Anatomy,
      Physiology, Surgical Pathology, and Biochemistry
