Library Databases Relevant to Asian Studies

Academic Search Premier (EBSCOhost) is a multi-disciplinary database containing the full-text of more than 3000 scholarly journals. The diverse content covers social sciences, humanities, education, computer sciences, languages and linguistics, arts and literature, medical sciences and ethnic studies.

Academic Universe Lexis-Nexis covers nearly 5,000 publications, most of which are available in full text (ascii format). There are five main sections of which the most comprehensive are news, business, medical, and reference, of which the first three are the most comprehensive.  Dates of coverage vary by publication.  There is full text of The New York Times (from 1980) and other major newspapers.

Business ABI-Inform (on Proquest) covers business and management subjects including accounting and taxation, banking and finance, economics, government, health care, human resources, labor relations, marketing, public administration, real estate, and specific companies. It provides references and abstracts for more than 1,000 journals and trade publications of which 600 are full text (ascii and/or Adobe Acrobat formats). The database is updated daily.  Indexing begins with 1970, and full text is available from1991.

China Data Online is a professional site founded by All China Commercial Information Network and offering the comprehensive statistics and economic information of China to domestic and overseas clients.

Ethnic NewsWatch is a full-text database of the newspapers, magazines, and journals of the ethnic, minority, and native press in English and Spanish language.  These 200+ titles represent the diversity of the American population in ways that are generally not seen in the mainstream media.  These comprise an unequaled collection of articles, editorials, and reviews that provide a valuable interdisciplinary flavor to a wide range of current and historical topics.
