Explanation of Notation and Abbreviations

Titles are listed alphabetically. Periodicals of associations, societies, etc. are listed alphabetically under the name of the association, society, etc., for example: AMERICAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION. JOURNAL.

Journals in paper format (no special indication) are located on the 3rd floor of Walsh Library Building and Browsing Room on the 2nd floor.

Journals with special indication in "fiche" or "film" formats are located in the Microfilm/fiche Room on the 2nd floor.

//                  Denotes a closed file – no volumes or years after //.

+                  Denotes an open file; that is, the Library has volumes from the + to the
                    most current issues.

APS#          This is the reel number of the microfilm in the AMERICAN
                   PERIODICAL SERIES
. The reel number is necessary to find the
                   microfilm of the journal you want.

bd.               The title is in a bound volume section, that is, a hard binding covers
                    individual issues.

fiche           The title is available on microfiche.

film              The title is available is on microfilm.

SetonCat    Library Online Catalog (of books and audio/visual materials).

unbd.          The title is unbound – current issues are unbound and 
                   do not have a hard binding.
