The Dr. Francis Monroe Hammond Collection of Social Sciences at Seton
Hall University - A Lecture/Presentation

Presenters: Ms. Bertha Hammond, Daughter of Dr. Hammond; Mr. Aaron
Campbell, Graduate of Seton Hall University and Student of Dr. Hammond;
Mr. Tyrone Breedlove, Coordinator of the African-American Cultural Lecture
Series; and Alan Delozier, University Archivist/Assistant Professor.
Theme and Focus: Dr. Hammond was a pioneer at Seton Hall College as
the first African-American faculty member, but also as Head of both the
Psychology and Philosophy Departments at various times during his tenure
at the school from the 1950's making him one of the few if only
individuals to hold this dual distinction in university history. This will
be a collection dedicated to the life of Dr. Hammond in an academic,
professional, and personalized context as it relates to his field of
Social Sciences.
