The patroness of Seton Hall University remains the first-American born saint
in history and her example has inspired interest among adherents, educators
and historians worldwide. Along with enduring ties to Mother Seton, the
school features various archival resources and popular secondary works on
the Seton family who had a direct or circumlocutory impact on the history of
the institution and its legacy as a whole. Included among the more prominent
figures are William Seton, the second child and first son of Mother Seton,
Bishop James Roosevelt Bayley, the first Bishop of Newark (and founder of
Seton Hall College in 1856) and Msgr. Robert Seton, grandson to Mother
Seton, and a College Trustee during the nineteenth century to name a few.

general historical information on Mother Seton and the Seton family produced
in conjunction with our annual Charter Day celebration which honors her
