American Catholicism & Religious Archives

The importance of research in religious life has been a phenomenon centuries old which continues to this day in various forms, expressions and levels of enlightenment.  The traditional parchment of primary source material, secondary texts and the wonders of the Internet age have provided the researcher more options for religious-based historical exploration than ever before.  The publisher of the book - Archival Information: How to Find It, How to Use It. (Westport, CT: Greenwood Press, 2004) for some unknown reason omitted this particular section from the final printed version.  As a public service, the following directory of Religious Archives homepages, contact data and a select bibliography is presented in a web-based version for your reference.  It is not designed to be comprehensive, but I will be more than happy to add any sites/information to this site as it evolves.  At the present time, I hope you find the following information useful in your quest for spiritual enlightenment from an archival perspective successful.  Included is a section on American Catholicism that connects directly to our work on preserving the historical life of the Universal Church within the borders of New Jersey. For more information about this and other web and/or printed works related to this subject area please feel free to contact me via e-mail: delozial@shu.edu or phone at: (973) 275-2378.   Joyous reading and researching in advance!...
