Title Search - SEARCH
STRATEGIES
You know the title of a book and you
want to find it using a title search
For Example: Thomas Aquinas
| When
you are doing a title search:
|
In
the record about Thomas Aquinas, Location and Call Number tell you where
to find an item in the library. You can find this information by
scrolling down the record screen. Many
titles have more than one copy and location. The print-out of
the record
screen might look something like this:
| Location: |
Main |
| Call Number: |
B765.T54.D3 |
| Copy Number: |
1 |
| Status: |
Not Checked Out |
| Location: |
Seminary |
| Call Number: |
B765.T54.D3 |
| Copy Number: |
1 |
| Status: |
Checked Out - Due on 03-27-01 |
- Location
will tell you which library, or in which part of the library, an
item is held. SHU Libraries consist of Walsh Library,
which has two separate locations designated for materials
(Main and Archives), and the Seminary Library, which is located in
Lewis Hall.
- The call
number indicates where the item is located on the
shelves in a particular library or part of the
library.
- Copy
number shows which book record you are viewing.
Sometimes the library owns multiple copies of the same
title.
- Status will tell you if the item is available for
borrowing:
Checked out means the title has already been
borrowed
Not checked out means the title is available for
borrowing
