Education

Since the COVID-19 stay-at-home orders and school closures went into place, many students at all grade levels have no choice but to try to keep up their studies at home.  Without the benefits of being in the classroom, this can be a challenge.  The resources below are some of the options available to students and parents to help bridge the gap, free of charge. (Español).

Education Resources

NJTV is a public access TV network for New Jersey.  NJTV Learning Live is an initiative from NJTV, the NJ Dept. of Education, and the NJ Education Association, where top teachers from NJ provide daily lessons at the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade levels.  Topics encompass science, math, history, art, poetry, English, music, and more.  Lessons are one hour each, given Monday-Friday from 9am-1pm, with each grade level having a designated hour.  Past lessons are also available on demand to watch on their website.
 
Khan Academy is a free online learning platform with online education videos covering a wide range of topics.  They have material covering math, science, English, literature, history, and more from the Preschool level to College level and everywhere in between.  They also have more advanced material in topics including economics, medicine, computer science, and engineering for college students and adult learners.  
Khan Academy has also put out resources, including daily learning schedules, for students at every grade level to help manage school closures and learning from home during COVID-19.  These resources are available in a range of languages, including Spanish. Resources in Español.
 
The Palisades Family Success Center is an organization that provides support and resources for families in Hudson County, NJ.  They offer a variety of workshops, events, and groups online via Zoom and Facebook Live. See their Upcoming Events section or Calendar for what they have in the near future.
