Can I still get books?

Yes, you can still get books! Only now *we* have new ways to get those books to you!

From the library homepage, search the item. Click the "Place Hold" button, the button maybe blue like on the left or orange on the right.

If you are not already logged into PirateNet it will ask you to login. Done! 

If it doesn't come up when you search try ILL or EZBorrow (returning August 24th).

 

 

Delivery Options

When your items are available for pick-up you will receive an email asking how you would like to get them:

  • Home Delivery - If you are unable to make it to campus, we can send the items via UPS to your residence. We just need you to confirm before we ship. 
  • Curbside Pick-up - Can make it into campus, but don't want to come to the library? That's okay. Once you get your hold notice, you can arrange a time to pick-up your items curbside. Located on the lower level of the rotunda outside the doors. 
  • Pick-up at the library - You can still come by the library and get your items!

 

Just need a chapter or two?

We can scan it or request it!

Place your request through ILL and we will either scan it if we have it onsite or request a copy from another school. Please note that scans will take longer than 24 hours, as it is dependent on staffing levels and on lending library availability.

What about ILL & EZB?

We love how much you all love these services! And we want to make sure they are safely available for the SHU Community.

EZBorrow is available for borrowing. Not all EZB Libraries are up yet so the availability will be different than before. 

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is available for fulfilling electronic article and book chapter requests. We have resumed physical borrowing and lending. 

Please note: Turn around is going to take longer for these items. COVID-19 has been found to exist on books for up to 96 hours, for everyone's safety we are quarantining books from other libraries for 4 days before notifying patrons they are ready for pick-up. 

Returning Books

As of June 1, 2021, we are reinstating fines. 

All items due back between February 23 - September 1, 2020 were renewed to September 2, 2020. All fines for items due during this same period have been waived. However these items are now overdue and please return them as soon as possible. For all questions, please contact circulation@shu.edu.

Note - All books will be held for 7 days before checking them in.
