Access and Borrowing Privileges
Full access to the Seminary Library, including borrowing privileges, is granted to current Seton Hall University (SHU) faculty and registered students with a valid SHU ID card. All others are considered visitors and are kindly asked to sign the Visitor’s Registry upon entry. Visitors are welcome to use library materials on-site for reading and research purposes; however, borrowing privileges are not extended to visitors.
Loan Periods for Library Materials
Circulating Books:
Undergraduate Students: 28 days | 1 renewal
Graduate Students: 60 days | No renewal
Faculty and Staff: 90 days | No renewal
Note: Overdue items are not eligible for renewal.
Non-Circulating Materials
Reference Books, Periodicals, and Bound Theses: In-library use only
Reserve Materials: In-library use only
With instructor permission, Reserve items may be checked out near closing time and must be returned by 9:00 a.m. the following day.
Media Items
DVDs: 3-day loan | Not renewable
Compact Discs: 14-day loan | Not renewable
Borrowing Limits
A maximum of 5 items may be checked out per visit.
Library Conduct
Silence must be maintained at all times in the Library Reading Room to preserve a quiet study environment. Personal conversations and group discussions should take place in the Commuter Lounge or other designated areas outside the DeVoy reading room.
Access to University Libraries
Seminary students with a valid SHU ID card are also welcome to use the resources and services available at Walsh Library.
