The Msgr. William Noé Field Archives and Special Collections Center is the repository for records of enduring value documenting the history of Seton Hall University and the Archdiocese of Newark as well as Catholic New Jersey. Many come to our archives to do genealogical research, as we hold sacramental records for closed parishes in the Archdiocese. Our manuscript collections are particularly strong in African-American Studies, Diplomacy and International Affairs, Interfaith Dialogue, Italian American Studies, New Jersey Politics, and Women in the Catholic Church to name a few. We also hold a number of rare book collections documenting the American Civil War and Irish History, as well as various aspects of Catholic doctrine and practice. To learn more about primary sources and how to use them in your research, please see our Introductory Guide.
