Archives Services During HyFlex

Hours

Hours

Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm

By appointment only – please call (973) 761-9476 or email archives@shu.edu to make a reservation for a study space in the archives.  2-hour blocks are available, and must be requested 24 hours in advance.  Space is limited and will be made available on a first come first served basis.  Priority will be given to researchers who wish to work with Special Collections materials, but space is available to all SHU students.

Research Appointments

Virtual appointments are available with University Archivist Alan Delozier, who will be able to assist you in finding materials in the Seton Hall archives to support research or creative work.  Archdiocesan Archivist Brianna LoSardo is available to consult on materials in the archives of the Archdiocese of Newark.  Book virtual appointments here:

Accessing Materials

Archival materials may be requested in person and reviewed in the reading room, which provides research space that adheres to social distancing.  Materials may be photographed using a digital camera for later study.  If coming to campus in person is not possible, and you have specific items you would like to review, email archives@shu.edu with the details (collection, box and folder numbers) of the materials you would like to use, and the archives will scan materials on request, subject to staffing limitations.  We are also offering a free hour of genealogy research services for researchers unable to come to the reading room due to the pandemic.  After that first hour hour, any additional genealogy research will be charged at the usual rate of $40/hour.
