ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID)

ORCID

ORCID is a non-profit organization that provides an open registry of unique identifiers for researchers. Users are provided with a free, unique, persistent identifier (PID) so funders, publishers, scholarly societies, and other researchers can quickly find and distinguish your work from materials created by other researchers. ORCIDs are being used increasingly by academic institutions, publishers, and funding sources.

With an ORCID you can ...

  • Accurately link your publications, activities, works and organizations to you and your affiliated institutions
  • Distinguish your work from others with similar names
  • Improve the visibility of your contributions
  • Connect to you wherever you go, regardless of changes in name, discipline, career, institutions, etc.
  • Quickly send your data over to organizations for funding, publishing, and research reporting
