- ProQuest Central (1970 - current) This link opens in a new windowThis database serves as the central resource for researchers at all levels. Covering more than 160 subjects areas, ProQuest Central is the largest aggregated database of periodical content. This award-winning online reference resource features a highly-respected, diversified mix of content including scholarly journals, trade publications, magazines, books, newspapers, reports and videos.
- JSTOR - All library subscriptions This link opens in a new windowJSTOR is database that contains scholarly articles from many disciplines and subject areas. Much of its content is available in full-text (although full-text of recent articles may not be available for a year or more).
For Literary Research
- Gale Literature This link opens in a new windowBiographies, bibliographies and critical analysis of literary authors from every period and discipline. Its resources cover more than 90,000 novelists, poets, essayists, journalists and other writers, with additional in-depth coverage of 2,500 of the most-studied authors.
- Gale Literature Resource Center This link opens in a new windowLiterature Resource Center provides access to biographies, bibliographies, and critical analyses of authors from every age and literary discipline. The database includes more than 120,000 novelists, poets, essayists, journalists, and other writers, with in-depth coverage of 2,500 of the most-studied authors.
- Literary Reference Center This link opens in a new windowA full-text database that combines information from major respected reference works, books, literary journals as well as original content from EBSCO Publishing. Literary Reference Center contains full text for more than 35,000 plot summaries, synopses and work overviews, nearly 100,000 articles/essays of literary criticisms, more than 253,000 author biographies (including more than 22,000 in-depth bios), more than 460 literary journals, more than 693,000 book reviews, nearly 78,000 classic and contemporary poems, more than 19,600 classic and contemporary short stories, more than 6,500 author interviews, more than 8,200 classic texts and much more.
- MLA International Bibliography (EBSCO Publishing)(A&I) This link opens in a new windowOffers a detailed bibliography of journal articles, books and dissertations. Produced by the Modern Language Association, the electronic version of the bibliography dates back to the 1920's and contains over 2.3 million citations from more than 4,400 journals & series and 1,000 book publishers. The indexed materials coverage is international and includes almost 60 titles from J-STOR’s language and literature collection as well as links to full text.

Databases for finding historical newspaper articles
You can use these databases to search for film or theatre reviews in addition to other topics. We have many more newspaper databases and if you're ever looking for a specific journal, newspaper, magazine, or periodical, you can use the journal search to search the title of the publication, for example, The New Yorker, to see if we have that publication in our print or electronic holdings.
