The major divisions of this book correspond of the common groupings of topics covered by ACS exams for general chemistry. If you are taking an exam that covers the full year of general chemistry, all of the topic groups can be expected on the exam. If you are taking a first term exam, only the first five topic groups pertain. For the second term exam, the final five topic groups are most important; although the second term topics do build upon knowledge acquired in the first term. Each topic group is introduced with a short discussion of the important ideas, concepts, and knowledge that are most frequently stressed in general chemistry courses.
