The University Libraries serve the needs of currently enrolled Seton Hall University students and currently employed faculty, administrators, and staff. Visitors are welcome and will need to sign in with a photo ID at the Circulation Desk.

University Libraries actively works with the Disability Support Services Office to ensure that students have materials in the proper format. Please contact us with any questions.

Each student and faculty member has a library account where they see due dates for checked out material(s). The link is found under the “Services” tab on the University Libraries Homepage.

Benefits are available to SHU alumni including on campus access to all print and electronic resources. In addition, off-campus access to selected Collections and Databases, and borrowing privileges for lendable print materials is offered by the University Libraries.

Visit the archives to explore Seton Hall’s rare book and manuscript collections, which include Catholic and New Jersey history, Irish and Italian rare books and manuscripts, the immigrant history of the region and university. Make an appointment M-F, 9-5.

Lending privileges are extended to Seton Hall University students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community residents. Non-matriculated individuals from outside of campus with a REBL sticker may borrow books from Seton Hall.

The ability for a library user to borrow an item from the library for a fixed period of time. Check out materials at the Circulation Desk or “Client Services Desk” on the Second Floor of Walsh Library.

Several PC and MacIntosh computers as well as monitor displays are available on the Second Floor of Walsh Library.

This action is designed to safeguard any type of work created by an individual under the category of intellectual property rights. Review copyright guidelines for theses and dissertations.

Resources requested by a professor and required for usage by students enrolled in a particular class. Physical print materials are available at the Circulation Desk on the Second Floor of Walsh Library. Electronic course reserves are available in Canvas.

A publishing service offered by the Seton Hall University Libraries and Seton Hall Law for preservation and dissemination of SHU scholarly works. This includes over 23,000 works across several academic offices and disciplines.

This service allows students, faculty, and staff at participating institutions to borrow physical books from libraries in a network of partner institutions.

We provide resources and services to support faculty scholarship with tools like Pure, an impact measurement system, and ORCID, a unique identifier for scholars. These tools help faculty and graduate students manage and showcase their research.

Supports students enrolled in the College of Nursing and the School of Health and Medical Sciences.

This service allows researchers to borrow books and journal articles not available at the University Libraries from another repository. It is a valuable service for accessing a wider range of resources for research and learning.

Information professionals who work with specific academic departments on campus according to their respective and personal area of intellectual expertise

A service to help students learn how to find information more efficiently and effectively. Teaching can be requested on an individual basis, or faculty can request an instruction session for their classes.

In addition to the resources available at University Libraries, there are other consortia and local borrowing opportunities for the SHU Community. This includes REBL for borrowing at local public libraries and VALE for access to other local universities.

These services are available on the Second Floor of Walsh Library and within the Information Commons found on the Nutley campus.

An important collaborative service to help a library user find access to information from a chat or email with a librarian.

Borrowing privileges are extended to Seton Hall University (SHU) students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community residents.

Visit with our subject specialists who can help you find resources for assignments or persona research. Appointments can be in-person or on Teams.

This service provides a library user with access to course-related materials that can include book chapters, journal articles, or streaming video.

Qualitative and quantitative software available to the SHU Community and includes ArcGIS, ATLAS.ti, PowerBI, SPSS, and STATA.

The University Libraries offers support for scholarly impact metrics to demonstrate scholarly impact. The Institutional Repository houses SHU scholarship and has had over 8 million downloads to date.

These spaces are for graduate students and faculty. Rooms are available for one year and are renewable.

There are many physical places to study on both the South Orange and Nutley campuses. There is a Silent Study Room on the Second Floor of Walsh Library.
