Book Displays

Book Recommendations from the University Libraries Collection

Y'all it is summer, I don't know about you but my brain wants something other than just text on a page. This month we are featuring different graphic novels and collections of comics from our collection. It feels like these mediums have been in my life forever. I grew up reading the comics almost everyday (my sister calls them the 'funnies'), later trips to the comic book store with my sister, and then discovering graphic novels. I know there are some that still don't see these mediums as 'intellectual' but that is their loss. I wrestled with philosophy before I knew what is was when reading Calvin and Hobbes. The Boondocks brought the real topic of racism to the comics section of the newspaper. These mediums offer a different means of entry to stories and history for some which is wonderful.
