Books
Seton Hall University Libraries have two systems for requesting books: EZBorrow and ILLiad.
EZBorrow requests are generally ready for pick-up from our library in 3-5 days, sometimes less. EZBorrow lending is through our consortia agreement with PALCI. Items are checked out for 112 days with no renewals.
Due to the faster turn around time and standard loan period, EZBorrow should be checked first. If a book is not available from EZBorrow, you can submit a request through ILLiad. The general turn around time for books requested through ILLiad is two weeks; however if the item you are requesting is very new, popular, or rare, it may take longer to process and receive. Please make sure to provide as complete a citation as possible, including title, author, date published or edition, and ISBN. Check-out time and renewals are determined by the lending library.
With both systems you can choose your pick-up location, either Walsh Library (SHU) or the IHS Campus. You will receive an email when your item is ready to be picked up. The item will be will be held for 10 days. We will send a second email about pick-up. If the item has not been picked-up after 10 days it will be sent back to the lending library. If you need an extension on the loan time please reach out to us at interlib@shu.edu.
Book Chapters
Just need a chapter from a book? Submit a request through ILLiad. A digital copy of the chapter will be delivered to your ILLiad account. Please make sure to provide as complete a citation as possible, including book title, chapter title, author, date published or edition, page numbers, and ISBN.
While we cannot borrow ebooks, we can obtain a chapter from an ebook.
Borrowing Notes
EZBorrow items are available for check-out for 112 days with no-renewal. Due dates for books borrowed through ILLiad are determined by the lending library. The lending library may or may not allow renewals, and can also specify if the item is restricted to “In Library Use Only.” Patrons who repeatedly fail to pick-up their requested items may have their privileges revoked.
Overdue items accrue a fee of $1/day. Patrons will be charged for lost or damaged items. These fees are determined by the lending library. Borrowers with outstanding ILL fines may have their ILL privileges revoked. A good faith try will be made to contact the patron to solve all outstanding items and fees. After that all open fines will be forwarded to the Bursar.
